Pharmacist Consultant

Location: 968 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, PA (approx. 80% on-site)

Terms: Full-Time

Job Overview:  Work with our dynamic team of pharmacist consultants and business owners to help our clients solve their ever-changing pharmaceutical product-related business issues.  Assist in projects with pharmaceutical manufacturers, payers, health plans/PBMs, pharmacy software providers, and other industry stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the pharmacist consultant team on a variety of client projects.
  • Stay up to date on trends in the pharmaceutical industry and how they may affect our clients’ operations and needs.
  • Manage and/or assist with individual client projects, meeting agreed upon timelines while managing client expectations
  • Prepare written reports or presentations that summarize project findings and provide conclusions and recommendations for clients
  • While always changing, projects may include the following:
    • Review drug compendia monographs and data field exports, comparing to drug manufacturer prescribing information to assess accuracy and provide recommendations
    • Review pharmacy data claims files, comparing paid claims to negotiated contract rates, to identify trends and report upon findings
    • Perform retail pharmacy audits
    • Assist in operational improvement assessments and implementation projects
    • Research and analyze industry changes and their potential impact on PHSL clients

Requirements:

  • BS Pharm or Pharm.D. degree with state licensure(s)
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturer, specialty pharmacy, health plan, or PBM background
  • Sales experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Understanding of pharmacy pricing, drug reimbursement, and impact on pharmacy industry stakeholders. Specific knowledge sets beyond retail pharmacy such as specialty pharmacy, drug coverage under medical benefits, 340B, or more.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including vlookups and functions. Managing large data sets.
  • Experience with PowerPoint, presentation creation, and formatting
  • Strong critical thinking skills with a drive for continuous learning and self-growth
  • Capability to prioritize and work simultaneously on numerous projects, coordinating with multiple individuals
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaborative individual with ability to lead projects or work under others
  • Detail-oriented individual

Preferred:

  • Experience with SharePoint
  • Microsoft Access proficiency
  • Experience with direct client engagement and management

Work Environment:

  • This job operates in a business casual office environment.
  • Travel may be required for some client projects and/or industry conferences (less than 20%).
  • This role uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets and fax machines.
